As we approach the holiday season, I feel thankful for everything we've accomplished
since launching Help for Parkinson's in 2022. I often joke—though it's true—that if you
have Parkinson’s, the capital region is the best place to live. Consider what we
offer—most of it free to anyone living with Parkinson’s disease. Help for Parkinson’s
provides financial support for all the following:
Dance Classes with Rachelle Stallman Smith
Yoga with Deb Foss
Friday’s boxing class at Schott’s Boxing
All the Wonderful classes at the 15 Y branches around the Capital Region,
including Saratoga Springs and Glens Falls.
Various learning opportunities, such as lunch and learn sessions, as well as the
popular Living Well with Parkinson’s event.
And finally, the most exciting news of the year is the opening of the Parkinson's Center
at the YMCA, located at the Hannaford’s Shopping Plaza off Wolf Rd in Colonie. Help
for Parkinson’s remains committed to partnering with the Capital Region YMCA to
support the Parkinson’s Center at the YMCA through programs, resources, and financial
support.
Help for Parkinson's is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and every dollar we receive
goes directly to programs and resources that assist people with Parkinson's in living
well. Our progress in such a short time is thanks to generous donations from people like
you and me. If you haven't donated yet, I encourage you to consider doing so.
With your help, support, and participation, the Capital District Parkinson’s community
has made significant progress this past year. With the support of the Parkinson’s
Community and our friends, there is still so much more we can do to help those living
with this progressive disease thrive and enjoy their best possible lives!
Happy Holidays,
Help for Parkinson’s
